Monday August 26 – our best last chance!
It’s official. The Molson/Crosstown site plan is going to Public Hearing next Monday with a recommendation for approval from the City’s Current Planning Branch.
The report, which can be read here, contains misleading information about the development’s compliance with city policy and fails to acknowledge the serious concerns that were raised by city staff. This development is the wrong choice for our community and our city, and the report is a stark demonstration of the lack of transparency in Current Planning’s decision-making process.
Cllr Jane Batty has been very supportive of our community throughout this process, which has been really appreciated. There are also quite a number of other councillors who have pledged their support but we need to do our part by coming out to support those Councillors brave enough to stand up and say no.
Your presence at the Public Hearing on August 26 is vital. You can participate in a number of ways:
We want to have as many people out as possible to show how important this issue is to our city, but we do want to respect Council’s time, so we are asking that only 3 or 4 people from our community speak at the Hearing. If you’re interested in being a speaker, please let us know. Anyone wishing to speak at Council must register online before 4:30pm on Sunday August 25, or in person with the City Clerk before 1:30pm on the day of the hearing Monday August 26.
We look forward to your support on Monday, August 26!
