Our Civics Committee, Hall Committee, and Garden Committee met with City of Edmonton planners and representatives from Abbey Lane Homes in November to gain a better understanding of the proposed land swap. A swap of city parkland (some of which the league leases) and a privately owned piece of land is new for everyone involved. Many concerns and questions have been raised along with benefits and merit of the proposed land swap.
After significant debate and consideration, our Board of Directors moved at December’s board meeting: “On recommendation of Executive, the OCL Board moves to continue conversations with Abbey Lane Homes and the City of Edmonton to explore the merit of the land swap and rezoning, and requests the City of Edmonton to host community consultation.”
